#TCLBestSummerEver
It’s an 85 degree summer day in Grand Forks, ND. We stuff ten bodies into and eight passenger, wood sided station wagon. There is no air conditioning, no seat belts. There is barely reception for the radio and certainly no stereo. Most likely, there at least one passenger smoking cigarettes. We are pulling a trailer and have a car top carrier. Destination… Seattle WA! If those images don’t scream ROAD TRIP, I don’t know what does. Sounds like summer to me!
This type of road trip wasn’t unusual at the time. Quite frankly, I’m sure we had it pretty good compared to many others. How lucky we were to have all six kids, mom, dad AND grandma and grandpa traveling with us! I have great memories of family trips like this.
Tune into Twin Cities Live today at 3:00. I am sure there will be plenty of road trip stories . I will be talking about how to best use your rest stop time to get out of the car, be active and do a little stretching too. I will also have some ideas for healthier snacks. Summer road trips are so much fun and the memories made are priceless. What is your favorite trip or memory?
After the show airs today, I will post the video along with a recap here on the blog. Happy Wednesday, friends!
